How To Renew PRC ID and License with CPD Points

PRC ID and License Renewal with CPD

Last August 25, 2017 I renewed my PRC ID under the new CPD Law which was effective last July. I renewed my PRC ID in PRC CDO. Here's what I have learned during my PRC renewal with CPD. Please make sure to apply for an online appointment with PRC before proceeding with any PRC Office. This is must because this policy is strictly implemented.

Application for Exemption for OFW, Martial Law, Etc.

I was planning to apply for renewal via exemption as an OFW and a professional living in Iligan City which is under Martial Law. But as soon as I told the PRC personnel that I wish to avail of the renewal via exemption, I was told that it would be on a case to case basis and I still need to have an undertaking or in other words it would be more or less a complicated process.

And, what really surprises me is that the exemption is not really and exemption because the 13.5 CPD points that you are to apply for exemption will be carried over in your next renewal. In my case, it would be 13.5 points (2014 to 2017 exemption) plus 45 points (2017 to 2020) or 58.5 CPD points between 2017 to 2020. With that information I decided not to apply for exemption and apply for renewal via the regular process which is to have CPD.

CPD via Self Directed and/or Lifelong Learning

As an OFW, I am not that much active in trainings conducted by IECEP (Electronics Engineer Organization). Instead, I have trainings from my previous company in 2015 and I have undergone Online Training via LinkedIn Learning or Lynda in the year 2016 and 2017. I am really not that confident during my application for accreditation of my training specially the ones that I have taken online and most of them are more on self development and not that technical. Luckily, the CPD implementation is that not strict as of the moment and PRC is directed to exercise maximum flexibility to renewing professionals.
